Cutting To The Beat: Editing Technique

Part 1 on a series of: “Tips on how to create better marketing videos for your business”

The Best Editing Tenchique that any beginner can use to create better videos

Welcome to a new series of blogs here on the Beasty Reels Website. This blog will be the first of many blogs on how to create better marketing videos for your business. (Video tutorial towards bottom of page)

As you might already know, Tiktok and Instagram Reels have provided a ton of exposure for businesses around the world, and has caused the revenue of many of those businesses to sky rocket (“How to use Tiktok and Instagram Reels to gain exposure” blog will be coming in March of 2022). 90% of the Tiktoks/Reels have one thing in common, which is that they include a main soundtrack that is a song. We are going to give an essential editing technique that will help you create a video that flows better with the music. This editing technique will be called “Cutting to the beat”.

Below are two examples of the same videos, but with different timing on the soundtracks. The first video will not have the cuts synchronized to the beats of the music. The second one, will have the cuts of the clips synchronized to the beats of the song.

Artist: Kevin Powers (Unreleased sound track)

As you can see, the second videos flows and matches better with the song. The reasoning behind this, is because the editing technique “Cutting at the beat” was used.

Below is a video on how to match video cuts to a song on Adobe Premiere Pro(My personal favorite editing software). Click here to get yourself a monthly subscription for only $20.99.

Although this tutorial is for Premiere, the steps are used universally throughout all editing platforms(Phone or Computer).

Implenenting this video technique with popular songs will vastly improve the audience’s retention time.
